Testimonials and residents’ stories

What our families say

Choosing a care home is an important decision to make and to help you do so please look at the testimonials from our residents and their families. Read the stories of those who have lived with us happily for many years.

I visited several other providers in the area and chose this one because of the demonstrably superior quality of the staff, accommodation, quiet and attractive surroundings that could provide my wife with the love and help she needed. The choice was made because we have been happily married for 69 years and my wife deserves the best.

Mary’s story

Mary has been a member of our community for almost 20 years and is always one of the first to welcome new residents. Living at Lady Katherine Housing and Care has enabled her to continue living independently, but also take advantage of the active community within the Foundation – regularly attending the church and other social events. Mary describes Lady K as her home; where she is very well looked after by supportive and caring staff.

My mother has been a resident at Lady Katherine since 2020. She is extremely happy there. The care, kindness and compassion at Lady Katherine is outstanding. It is run extremely professionally. All the staff at Lady Katherine really care – nothing is too much trouble. It is a fun environment too, with lots of activities. I would also say Lady Katherine’s communication with me has been exemplary. I am a huge fan of Lady Katherine.

Mary B (daughter of resident) - September 2023

It’s a home full of love.

Sue (daughter of resident) - July 2023

My mother had to move from another care home recently, and I was worried it would be very unsettling for her. However the staff and setting have been amazing and Mum couldn’t be happier. The atmosphere is very ‘home-from-home’ and her room is spacious and cosy with incredible views of the 13th century church and peaceful gardens.

Janet’s story

Previously a very successful Head Teacher, awarded with an MBE, living at Lady K has allowed Janet to stay in touch with a school community – through our links with Lady Katherine Leveson Primary School. She joins the school church service most Thursdays and the children happily greet her. She regularly joins in with activities and trips, particularly enjoying visits from our Care Manager’s dog Sprocket.

Pat & Brian’s story

Brian first came to Temple Balsall as an evacuee during World War Two to stay with his maternal aunt. During this time there was a thriving farm on the site of the Foundation, remains of which can be seen today just along the path from Temple House, and Brian’s aunt and uncle were the tenant farmers. Brian later met his wife Pat at a dance in Coleshill and he introduced her to Temple Balsall, where they became regular visitors to the Sunday teas. It seemed fitting that they should choose Lady Katherine Housing & Care when the time came for a little more support, with such a special link to the place and their son living close by. Pat and Brian take advantage of the flexibility of care, allowing them to live in their own flat with their own front door, but having staff on hand when needed.

Jean moved to Lady K from another local care home and said she immediately felt at home here. She very much enjoys the home cooked meals and taking part in the activities on offer.

Jean (a resident) - June 2022

My mother has been a resident for nearly four years at Lady Katherine. She is happy in her home and despite her declining health always has a good word to say about all the staff. From my point of view the staff are always kind and nothing is too much trouble. I am kept up to date if there are any concerns and my requests are dealt with speedily and with a professional and caring attitude.

JT (daughter of resident) - October 2022

My mother is extremely well cared for in this lovely care home. The staff are wonderful and the setting by the church and beautiful grounds is perfect for her.
